Context

BBB is an acronym for Big, Bold, and Beautiful, BBB Fashion App is specially designed for plus-size women to help reduce the frustrations faced when shopping for fashionable wear.

BBB Fashion is a mobile app that allows plus-size women to shop for fashionable wear and it also allows users to send in their desired fashion samples they would love to purchase.

Objective

The objectives of BBB (Big, Bold and Beautiful) Fashion are;

  • To provide plus-size women with trending and fashionable wears
  • To provide wears that would be affordable to all plus-size women of different financial status
  • To create a platform where plus-size women would be able to send in their desired clothes sample to be purchased

Problem Statement

According to market research, it shows that nearly 70 per cent of Africans are plus size and yet, only 18% of the fashion wears sold were considered to be plus-size

  • Not getting proper sizes
  • Difficult to access quality, fashionable, and trendy clothing items.

Solution

  • To create a platform that is less ambiguous and strictly for plus-size women
  • User-friendly navigations that enable plus-size women to shop easily
  • A feature that allows plus-size women to send in desired clothes samples to be purchased

  • As a new user, I want to register by creating a username and password so that the system can remember me and my data
  • As a user, I want to get notified when new clothes arrive so I can be able to keep up with current trends
  • As a user, I would like to be guided through the platform after login so that I can easily discover all features
  • As a user, I want to view all outfits available so I can decide on what to order
  • As a user, I want to be able to submit my credit card details and get authorization so that I can complete my checkout
  • As a user, I want to be able to send sample requests so that I can be able to explore that brand

Solution Summary

Methodology

  • Research – quantitative and qualitative research
  • Define – Problem statement, personal, empathy map and affinity map
  • Ideate – User flow, Information architecture, user stories, sketches
  • Prototype – low and high fidelity, visual design and prototype
  • Test – usability testing

    Key findings

  • 63 people aged between 16 – 45 responded
  • 24.1% were considered to be Plus size
  • 98.4% were considered to own a phone
  • 66.7% preferred shopping both online and boutique while 20.0% and 13.3% preferred shopping online and boutique respectively.
  • 33.9% buy clothes monthly, 45.2% buy once in 3 months, 11.3% buy once in 6 months and 9.6% buy clothes yearly
