CONSTRAINTS:

I am assuming there are no time and resource related constraints.

I am also assuming this is an actual library and not an app or website.

GOALS:

To help users in getting the books they are interested in.

Existing Competition:

None that I am aware of.

USER SEGMENTS:

1. Avid User: who can read anything and everything available to them

2. Casual User: who reads for leisure

3. User who is interested in books of a particular subject or topic

I will go with the 3rd one as that interests me more and I am assuming there are no objections to it.

PAIN POINTS:

1. User is not able to get books on the subject/topic they want

2. User is not aware of the good books on the subject/topic

3. They don’t have a single source where they can find hard copy of books

4. Books are expensive to buy a lot of times

5. They might not get a book in a language of their choice

SOLUTIONS: The list is mentioned in terms of prioritization

1. User should be able to join the library as a member

2. User should be able to borrow books from the library

3. User should be able to provide the books they have to library so they can be borrowed by others

4. User should be able to get a recommendation on a particular subject/topic

5. Library should be able to let the user know about if a book is available in library and when will it be available if someone else has borrowed it

6. If users are sharing their books then a credit score should be given to them which can be used to borrow other books

7. Library should be able to let the user know in what all languages the book is available and if required provide the service of translating the book

I am not sure if we need METRICS for this but here is what I would track

1. No. of Total users

2. No. of active (returning) users

3. No. of books borrowed

4. No. of books provided by users

5. No. of late returns
