Clarifying Questions:
1. What do you mean by a student – School Students or College ones?
Ans. Consider both school, highschool and college/university.
Assumptions:
Newyork Population – 20M
Neglecting the playschool and nursery students.
Calculation of Number of students in Newyork:
Total Number of Students = School + High School + College
NY Population: 20M
Age 0 – 3 : 5% – 1M
Age 3 – 14: 15% – 3M
Age 15 – 18: 15% – 3M
Age 18 – 24: 15% – 3M
Age 25 – 40: 25% – 5M
Age 40 – 60 : 15% – 3M
Age 60+ : 10% – 2M
School Students: X*3M
X = Not All kids in this age group would be able to get education. considering primary education has become a necessity these days and america being one of the well developed countries, i am considering 70% of these age group are students
School Students: 2.1M
Similarly, 60% of school students opt for Highschool
High School: 0.6*2.1 = 1.2M
Considering the 40% of the Highschool students opt for further higher studies
University/College: 0.4*1.2 = 0.5M
Total Number of students = 3.8M students (19% of NY Population)
Interns:
Assumptions:
Majorly, College students opt for the internships, so neglecting the other students and non – students for the ease of calculation.
| Freshers – 0.15M | 10% opt for internships | 0.015 |
| Sophomores – 0.15M | 30% | 0.045 |
| Juniors – 0.15M | 40% | 0.06 |
| Seniors -0.15M | 60% | 0.09 |
Interns = 0.015 + 0.045 + 0.06 + 0.09 = 0.21M Interns
