Redesigning Umbrella.

Clarification Questions:
a. What is the objective for this re design?
We are an Umbrella manufacturer and want to bring a new type of umbrella to the market.

b. Why are we doing it now?
There is rainy season coming in, so we want to cash it in with our new umbrella launch.

c. Any cost constraints to make the umbrella?
No Constraints, it’s upto you.

Cool Thanks. I’ll first categorise the users based on the age and pick a target persona.

Users based on the age can be categorised as

– Kids
– Adults
– Old Age

I would like to pick the Old Age users as the target audience because of the following reasons:
– Prefer Umbrellas over Raincoats
– Usage of an Umbrella during summer season is also higher than other personas.

Few Points about the persona:
– Less Muscle strength
– May not be able to remember things or seek help in remembering
– Very Careful about health

Let’s pick the problems of less Muscle strength and Not able to remember things as problems because most of the elderly face them.

Solutions:

Easily opening and closing the umbrella is quite important – A simple button system to do both the tasks, currently umbrella only opens with the button, but not close.

The Umbrella should be easily carried and can be placed everywhere the customer/user go

Since there are no constaints I would like to propose few technologically advanced solutions.

Futuristic – Connect with google calendar and goole weather forecast to tell if it is going to rain on the particular day. The Umbrella will have a light signal which gets switched on whenever it is going to rain.

Connect with google maps to easily track the umbrella if forgotten anywhere.
