You are the PM of Meta (Facebook) Marketplace. You have been presented a proposal for sellers to provide a government-issued ID before they can post their products. How would you decide whether to implement this feature?

I would do research to determine the following first;
what the challenge/pain point of not requiring sellers to upload govt ID is? Are there scammers? Are people losing money and loosing trust in the product as a result of that?
Has the company’s revenue been affected as a result?
If the answer to all the questions above is yes then there would be need to implement the feature to bring trust and coherence between the players on the marketplace. As a curator, it’s our job to reduce the friction not increase it and technology needs to make that easy.
if the answer to the questions above is a no or a mixture of no and yes?
I would have to drill deeper and address each item separately before concluding.
I would also look at what competition has done, what the law of the land says or the industry practice commands and decide accordingly.
