I am an experienced senior corporate development specialist with 10+ years in investment banking, consulting, and corporate development roles within the public sector, media & telecom, and most recently the healthcare industry.

Currently, I am working at Healthworx, the insights and innovation arm of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, in the Corporate Development group. As a corporate development leader, I am responsible for developing strategic partnerships and acquisition opportunities enabling CareFirst’s mission through enhanced capabilities in healthcare technology and services.

My career has led me into multiple fields, industries, and organizations. I served as an intern in the US Senate, an IT consultant for the Department of Defense, an investment banker covering Media & Telecom and in Corporate Development roles in Broadcasting and Healthcare. All of these roles and organizations have given me the opportunities to sharpen my skills spanning across strategic thinking, financial analysis, industry structure and value chain exploration, business development, mergers & acquisitions, investing, and change management. I’ve been a critical leader on M&A and VC transactions ranging from tens of millions to tens of billions of dollars.

I am honored to have worked with organizations making meaningful, positive impact in our communities. I’ve been a Thread mentor for over five years, an Entrepreneurship mentor for Defy supporting select recently incarcerated individuals and I am the Treasurer for the Mix Church in downtown Baltimore. Outside of my work, I’m interested in working on projects that use technology to improve people’s lives as well as reading, basketball, triathlons, trail running, rock climbing, and economics.

Corporate Development

In the Corporate Development group, I play a leading role in developing Healthworx’s growth strategy, forging strategic partnerships, and diversifying the core business through the acquisition of complementary organizations. These efforts cover a broad array of activities including strategy development, financial analysis, market research, due diligence, business development, negotiations, and post-merger integration.

Sr. Director Corporate Development

As the Sr. Director of Corporate Development, I was responsible for developing, formalizing, and coordinating the corporate strategy, ongoing market monitoring, and analysis, M&A, as well as playing a leading role in our corporate venture capital fund.

Key Achievements:
• A key member of the small team responsible for the $10.6Bn Fox Regional Sports Networks acquisition which tripled the size of the company and significantly diversified the business
• Worked directly with the CEO to re-launch the corporate strategic process encompassing long term scenario planning, opportunity sourcing and management of 40+ initiatives which achieved $20M+ in cash flow savings in the first year

Director of Corporate Development

I played an integral role in the development of the corporate growth strategy supporting senior leadership with critical analysis and insight.

Key Achievements:
• I led critical aspects of $25M+ of early-stage investments in strategically aligned companies and venture capital funds
• Led the analysis, due diligence, and planning for the $240M acquisition of the Bonten Media Group which owns, operates or provides services to 18 broadcast television stations resulting in $40M+ of value creation

Manager – Corporate Development Group

Financial leadership development program

In this role, I rotated through key finance functions supporting high impact projects across Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Internal Audit.

Key Achievements:
• Assisted in Frontier’s $10Bn+ equity and debt raise in connection with the acquisition of Verizon wireline assets resulting in the successful execution and financial stability through turbulent market conditions
• Simplified senior leader and corporate decision-making process through the development of a flexible long term financial model, allowing for enhanced forecast performance capabilities across a variety of market conditions
• Prepared ad hoc analysis presented directly to CFO on a wide range of topics including Pension Fund strategic alternatives, 401K optimization, and Shareholder cost-saving strategies

Investment Banking Associate

I assisted the senior leadership of large public and private companies in the Media & Telecom sector execute strategic transactions ranging from several hundred million to several billion dollars.

Key Achievements:
• Sole M&A advisor to the cover bidder on a 9 month $4bn public to the public buy-side transaction for a large-cap media client
• Sole M&A advisor to $300m private financial technology firm in a sell-side turned buy-side process

Consultant

I directed a four-person team to complete a complex phase of testing and developed supporting documentation to facilitate on-time deployment of critical new systems for our clients. I also led an eight-person team to develop and deliver training materials to 96 high-impact end-users that resulted in highest levels of attendee satisfaction.

Key Achievements:
• Created new billing process through business process improvement resulting in a 19% decrease in cash conversion cycle.
• Conducted analysis on logistics system data against multiple variables to identify key trends; Resulted in increased customer service and 23% decrease in order fulfillment time.
