Situation- We were designing a balance AVOD Vs SVOD customers for our streaming services platform. A balance was required since AVOD business is more profitable though SVOD customer create retention and engagement

Task- To create a balance between AVOD and SVOD subscribers using various methodologies

1) Pricing

2) Subscription methodology

3) Quantum of premium content available etc.

Action-

1) We allowed all cable customers of the brand free access to the content without a subscription fee

2) For users who wanted to sign up for premium content, we kept the subscription cost low but made it difficult for them to sign up e.g. they could only sign up using mobile platform and that too using the app store. Credit card were not allowed

Results- We able test out our hypothesis through experimentation and metrics. We were able to tweak things as there were changes between the AVOD and SVOD users.
