About Enterprise Container Management (ECM)

SUSE’s Enterprise Container Mangement (ECM) portfolio offers a full spectrum container management solution covering Rancher, Harvester, Longhorn & container security with Neuvector.

Rancher is the industry’s most widely adopted full stack Kubernetes management platform. At SUSE, we pride ourselves in being able to revolutionize the Kubernetes Management space and radically simplify the adoption and operation of cloud native technologies; enabling organizations to build and run secure, scalable and reliable applications across public clouds, hybrid clouds and the edge.

Enterprise Container Management Product Managers have end to end responsibility for their products – developing the vision, advocating with internal teams, and communicating to the market. We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual to drive the definition, execution and management of product initiatives across the company. Someone who can relate to the technical & executive audiences & can zoom in and out of detail as needed to communicate effectively.

As a Senior Product Manager in the ECM business, you will drive the product strategy for the storage & HCI products in the ECM portfolio. This role will report into the Director of Product Mangement.

Focus Areas

In this role you will…

• Lead the strategy, vision, and go to market for our cloud native storage (Longhorn) and HCI (Harvester) products of the Rancher Portfolio.
• Translate market needs into product capabilities and directions & present to key team members including the executive team.
• Track upstream project roadmaps and ensure the product is aware of relevant updates and features.
• Maintain a set of priorities to deliver upstream capabilities to Longhorn & Harvester customers
• Evaluate customer and market trends through customer interviews, workload analysis, partnerships, technology innovations, and competitive analysis as part of product planning.
• Develop detailed understanding of customer use cases and deployment options.
• Author detailed Problem Definitions & Outcomes (User Requirements) and user stories in Confluence & JIRA.
• Manage the product lifecycle from product definition to product release.
• Serve as the product SME with partners, customers and other external audiences
• Partner with marketing to provide positioning and messaging as well as contribute to GTM enablement. Provide pre-sales and post-sales support to Rancher sales teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Solutions, Support, Sales and Partner teams on an ongoing basis.
• Engage with Rancher and cloud native tooling users in online forums, Slack, meetups and conferences.

Preferred Experience, Skills, And Success Factors

• 3+ years of product management experience with infrastructure products
• Technical understanding of enterprise storage environments, deployments and use cases.
• Knowledge of technologies such as Kubernetes, Object storage, Block Storage & Hyper Converged Infrastructure
• Practical experience with solutions from Portworx/Pure Storage, Minio, Nutanix, VMware vSAN, SimpliVity, Cisco Hyperflex, or similar solutions is a big plus
• Comfortable with deep technical subjects and principals
• Strong communications, presentation and interpersonal skills, both in physical and virtual settings across oceans and cultures
• Self-motivated, able to handle ambiguity and work independently and in a team
• Experience with open-source software development and culture
