Overview

The Senior Digital Product Manager, will join our Digital Experience Strategy team to manage digital requirements for Avalara international marketing.

You will be accountable for enabling our growth by developing consistent, connected, secure, efficient, and scalable digital products. The Senior Digital Product Manager, is the champion for engaging users with valuable digital experiences at every stage of their relationship with Avalara. You will define the Avalara Digital Strategy for how systems, tools, technologies, and experiences can be optimized to grow Avalara’s product business profitably.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate product strategies, objectives, and key results. Structure analysis and model business value of new products and enhancements in order to recommend overall prioritization within the department.
  • Developing product and initiative plans and using judgement to effectively prioritize use cases and stage product initiative roadmaps. Influence and align leadership on vision, strategy, prioritized backlogs, and initiative success criteria.
  • Influence without formal authority cross functional teams across the development lifecycle to deliver value. Envision, define, and design product definitions for Engineering to build and deploy together with information architect and user experience design. Post-deployment, use data and structure analysis to understand value realized and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Navigate the needs of multiple business units to resolve dependencies and contending priorities, driving consensus on what is best for Avalara. Act as point of contact between marketing and digital for resolving x-team issues.
  • Partners with PMO to develop detailed work plans and facilitate delivery of definition of done.
  • Collaborate with audience and product marketers to define the strategic roadmap, anticipate and meet future business needs.
  • Develop product management artifacts including Problem Statements/Definitions, Roadmaps, ROI/Success Metrics, Scope, MVPs, and Journey Maps.
  • Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and engineering leads to drive accountability, mentorship, and support for in-flight programs while capturing feedback and identifying capability gaps to support future growth at scale
  • Define, and detail processes, policies, metrics, reports, risks/dependencies, and mitigation plans.
  • Translate business requirements into epics and user stories. Work with QA to define test criteria/scripts for releases while driving business tester UAT.
  • Provide international subject matter expertise and champion international-centric views into cross-functional initiatives.
  • Define measurable outcomes, and dependencies for delivery.
  • Use ingenuity and creativity in dealing with ambiguous situations.
  • Rises to the challenge, accepting risk and uncertainty as normal.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate is a results-driven leader, with a bias for action, who brings a strategic approach and thought leadership to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in international product definition, execution, and improvement.
  • 10+ years in executing international B2B digital product management activities.
  • Demonstrated operational rigor and continuous delivery of improvements with measurable impact.
  • Experience engaging end users to identify process / policy gaps, identifying opportunities to improve the user experience, and translating that into business requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree
