The Microsoft 365 Storage Fabric team is responsible for ensuring that the M365 service is always highly available, resilient, durable, performant, compliant and efficient. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager with excellent technical skills, the ability to analyze and derive insights from data, good partner- and customer-engagement skills, and above all a desire to learn.

 

You will own setting the product vision and strategy for load balancing, a critical service on our platform. This will require understanding how load balancing functions within M365, collaborating with both internal and external partners to identify capability & opportunities to improve end customer experience gaps, identifying Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) saving opportunities, researching state of the art load balancing algorithms & applying them to our use cases. You will own delivering solutions in conjunction with the rest of the team that address our customers’ needs, are scalable, and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Work with core M365 platform engineering teams to deliver a secure, continuously available, durable, performant, and hyper scale storage platform operated in a cost-effective manner to enable best-in-class experiences for the customers of M365 product suite.
  • Enable Microsoft 365 division to build and run services that power AI, Copilot capabilities to leverage our Storage platform.
  • Modernize and improve resource utilization efficiency of M365 Storage platform services.
  • Craft a vision and strategy for your area of ownership. Use data and necessary insights to rally the organization around that vision.
  • Take ownership of end to end business scenarios; problem definition, solutions and define technical & customer adoption strategies. Strive to generate clarity and drive alignment across the team and leadership.
  • Define targets for key business KPIs, and track and report progress on them.
  • Define and implement Quality of Service and SLA metrics for platforms and services that you will own.
  • Stellar cross group collaboration, able to drive decisive action in partnership with others in a large & diverse organization and deliver results that depend on other divisions and partners.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills with the ability to work independently in highly ambiguous environments, with both technical and business groups. Take a structural approach in solving complex problems. Communicate to senior decision makers in a clear & compelling way.
  • Help lead and champion the org culture.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years product/program management/software engineering experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with technical proficiency and strategic thinking.
  • Experience working with partner teams (internal and/or external) and across team boundaries to get things done.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results oriented.
  • Ability to tailor your message to different audiences.
  • BS or higher in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Prior experience working on cloud platforms and/or HA/Storage is a significant plus.

Product Management IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.
