Position Summary
Chesham Robotics is seeking a highly strategic and visionary
Director of Product to lead our product management organization. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining and executing the long-term product roadmap for our portfolio of advanced robotic solutions, ensuring alignment with Chesham's overall business objectives and market opportunities.
Based in San Francisco, you will act as the voice of the customer and the market within the company, translating deep market insights, competitive analysis, and customer needs into compelling and commercially successful product strategies. This leader will drive cross-functional collaboration between our local
AI/ML Engineering, Cloud Software, and Hardware Design teams, as well as Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to deliver world-class robotic products from concept through launch and iterative improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. AI-Centric Product Strategy and Vision
- Define the Future: Establish and champion a clear, multi-year product vision and strategy, with a strong focus on software-defined robotics, including embedded AI, cloud services, and data-as-a-service models.
- Market Leadership: Conduct continuous, deep-dive market research and competitive landscaping across the Bay Area's tech ecosystem, specifically targeting opportunities where advanced autonomy and machine learning provide a decisive advantage.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, making strategic decisions on product prioritization across our core offerings (e.g., Autonomous Mobile Robots, Collaborative Arms, Fleet Management Software).
2. Cross-Functional Execution and Scaling
- Roadmap Generation: Own and manage the detailed product roadmap, translating the strategic vision into prioritized features, user stories, and technical requirements in collaboration with the CTO and Engineering VPs.
- Agile Leadership: Drive effective, Agile-based communication and decision-making among our software and hardware teams, ensuring the seamless integration of our digital and physical product components.
- Go-to-Market Strategy: Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Business Development to define compelling value propositions based on data and ROI, pricing models (including subscription models), and effective launch strategies for rapid growth.
3. Team Leadership and Talent Development
- Attract Top Talent: Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of Product Managers and Product Owners, maintaining the high standards of a San Francisco-based tech company.
- Operational Excellence: Implement best-in-class, data-driven product management processes and tools to maximize team efficiency and ensure the delivery of product iterations that delight customers.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Product Management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Director, Senior Group Manager).
- Industry Expertise: Must have significant, hands-on experience developing physical hardware products and/or associated cloud/edge software platforms within the robotics, automation, enterprise SaaS, or industrial IoT sectors.
- Technical Acumen: Strong foundational knowledge of AI/ML applications in real-time systems, experience with cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP) for fleet management, and familiarity with the complexities of integrating software and hardware product lifecycles.
- Business Acumen: Proven track record of defining and launching successful, commercially viable products that have achieved significant market traction and revenue growth. Experience with B2B enterprise sales motions and large-scale deployments is highly valued.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical), Robotics, or a related technical field. An MBA or advanced technical degree from a top-tier university is a significant plus.
